Sewing Classes/ Workshops
 
 
'Ohana Arts Studio LLC has developed affordable classes/ workshops for kids and adults. Sessions range from 3.5 to 4 hours long. Information on our sewing classes and workshops is below. We also offer etiquette and Polynesian cultural workshops, too. Please contact us for more information regarding our other workshops. Mahalo (Thank you)!

All classes/ workshops are held at your location. Pets must be safely contained during class. This excludes service animals. 

Classes/ workshops will be taught by Kumu Lisa (Teacher Lisa) and accompanied by one adult assistant teacher.

Safety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID 19 and other highly contagious microbes will be followed. Our staff will wear masks. It is optional for participants. 

Students must have their own operable sewing machine. Please consult with us prior to choosing and purchasing your pattern and supplies. This way we can make sure the pattern is suitable based on your skills level and time to complete your project prior to purchasing. We will review with you a complete supplies list prior to your scheduled class/ workshop. There will be a 15 minute break at about the midpoint of class.

SEWING CLASSES/ WORKSHOPS
 
We offer 5 options:
 
Option 1: 'I Can Machine Sew'  - Make a Easy to Sew Square Pillow


 
Price is $75 per person for 3.5 hours of instruction. Student must use their operable sewing machine, thread, bobbin, 1 yard of cotton or cotton blend fabric (please wash, dry, and iron before class), Simplicity pattern #1224 or similar, one 14 inch pillow form, and pins and pin cushion or sewing clips. Classroom sewing supplies are provided during class, such as scissors and marking tools.

This workshop is geared for children (aged 6 and over) and adults who have never sewn on a sewing machine before and has a great desire to learn. Student will learn how to make a simple square pillow using our very own pattern. A hands-on class for groups of 10 or less. Student will learn to make a basic square pillow. This workshop will also cover basic sewing skills, including how to sew straight, measuring, cutting, and sewing safety.
 

Option 2: Make a Easy to Sew Bag, Pillow, Apron, or Lounge Pants 

Price is $85 per person for 3.5 hours of instruction. Student must use their operable sewing machine, thread, bobbin, beginner sewing pattern including pattern pieces and instruction, fabric (please wash, dry, and iron before class), fabric (amount listed on back of pattern envelope, notions (items are listed on back of pattern envelope), and pins and pin cushion or sewing clips. Classroom sewing supplies are provided during class, such as scissors and marking tools. 

This class is geared for children (aged 6 and over) and adults who have never sewn on a sewing machine before and has a great desire to learn. A hands-on class for groups of 8 or less. This class will also cover basic sewing skills, including how to sew straight, measuring, cutting, and sewing safety.

Option 3: "I Can Hand Sew" Workshop

Price is $45 per person for 3 hours of instruction. Sewing supplies are provided.

For children ages 8 and over. A hand sewing class for groups of 8 or less. This two−hour program teaches basic hand stitching using needle, thread, and felt.  Children will learn various basic stitching plus how to sew on a button while making their projects.
 
 
 
Option 4: Sew Your Badges and Patches Workshop
 
This is a workshop geared solely for learning basic machine sewing skills to sew on badges and patches that you bring onto your vest or sash. $30 per person for 4 hours of sewing time.
